This week we will:
  • Review Lesson 13 "I can do" statements and grammar points
  • Start Lesson 16
  • Learn Lesson 16A character set 
  • Review body parts 
  • Learn Lesson 16 vocabulary for dialogues I and II
Homework:
-Character sheet for Lesson 16A due Thursday
-Learn vocabulary for Lesson 16 dialogue I by Thursday
-Lesson 13 "I can do statement" quiz on Friday (listening and speaking)

- Go over Lesson 13 grammar
- Do grammar drill in the book
- WFR quiz on both Lesson 13 dialogue I and II vocabulary on Friday & "additional vocabulary"
- Learn Character set 2

-WFR quiz on Friday

This week we will:
  • Review everything in Chinese 3
  • Take character quiz (sets 12-22) on Tuesday (9/13)
  • Check class supplies on Tuesday (9/13)
  • Start lesson 13 on going to the library
  • Learn new vocabulary for lesson 13
  • Learn character set 1 (lesson 13)
Homework:
-Bring class supplies on Tuesday (9/13). Must bring everything in class to show Meng Laoshi
-Character quiz (Chinese 3 sets 12-22) on Tuesday (9/13)
-Learn new vocabulary for dialogue I for Thursday (9/15)

Course Description:



            This course uses the textbook Integrated Chinese Level 1 Part 2 (中文听说读写 Zhongwen Ting Shuo Du Xie). This course extends the previous year’s work and helps students refine and perfect Standard Mandarin language skills for use beyond the classroom. Students will consider current events and social issues in the Chinese language and social context. Students will learn to write 360-390 characters.



Textbook(s): Integrated Chinese Level 1 Part 2, Boston: Cheng & Tsui, 2005.

Assessment/Evaluation Procedures:

Students will be evaluated on homework, class participation, quizzes, tests and projects.

Late work policy:

  • Students are responsible for making up all work missed during an excused absence.
  • Following an excused absence, students should complete any missing homework assignments and/or class work within a week after returning to class. Students will receive a zero for any incomplete work.
  • It is very important for students to keep up with their daily learning, and homework assignments are due on their due dates. Late assignments can be turned in one class late for 50% of total grades. Assignment turned in the next class will receive 25% of total grades. No work will be accepted after that.
  • Students with special circumstances that prevent them from completing a homework assignment should speak to Meng Laoshi before class.





Classroom Expectations:

  1. Students should respect the teacher and one another
  2. Students should be punctual and come prepared to class
  3. Students should actively participate in all classroom activities
  4. Students should not eat, drink or chew gum during instruction (water bottles are okay)





Materials Needed:



1.      One 1” three ring binder

2.      5 subject index divider 

3.      4 dry erase markers (dark, easy to see colors, such as red, blue, black, green. No yellow or light pink please)

4.      One composition book

5.      Index cards for making flashcards (optional)
